About the team

 

The Transport Shared Services Branch (TSS) is part of the Corporate Services division and provides operational and shared services across the cluster, including payroll, procurement, finance and workplaces. We partner to provide sustainable strategies, solutions and services, enabling our clients to deliver Transport’s vision of making NSW a great place to live, work and play.

 

 

The opportunity

 

Exciting opportunity in our Transport Shared Services (TSS) area for a seasoned Director Payroll to lead the provision of payroll services for all award and senior service staff across TfNSW.

 

This role strives to improve quality of services, gain efficiencies of scale, uniformity and improve integrity and accessibility of data for planning purposes. The role is accountable for ensuring payroll systems, processes, procedures and outcomes are compliant with legislation, awards and TfNSW policy. Direct reports – up to 7.

 

You will:

 

Ensure management and delivery of payroll across the cluster covering multiple awards and agreements.

Lead TSS Payroll’s engagement with TfNSW divisions to discuss operational issues, performance monitoring and reporting, and to provide progress updates on improvement projects, with the aim to improve collaboration and establish effective communication channels. 

Provide high-level advice to the Deputy Executive Director, People Services on automation, transactional processes, business development issues, trends, threats and opportunities across the payroll services.

In collaboration with TSS Service Centre, act as Payroll ‘business process owner’, taking the lead on managing end-to-end payroll processes and finding ways to improve the efficiency, integrity, compliance and customer-centricity of tier 0, tier 1 and tier 2 processes.

In collaboration with Service Improvement, lead development and implementation of continuous improvement related to changes to systems, processes and procedures by identifying best practice and adopting industry standards.

Lead service delivery of payroll services in line with legislative, policy and audit requirements to ensure all processes, systems and documentation are compliant

About you

 

Comfortable operating in a complex industrial environment, you are an approachable and authentic leader well equipped to motivate,  develop and inspire your team through transformation and cultural change.

 

With an appetite for improvement and change, you are a customer centric professional, striving to deliver best practice payroll services, including raising the standard of customer service provision.

 

 

Essential requirements:

 

Tertiary qualifications (Business Management, Human Resources or related discipline), or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience

Extensive experience working in a high-volume customer-focused payroll environment with a track record of achieving service level targets.

Extensive knowledge of compliance obligations in relation to delivering payroll services, including superannuation, tax and payroll legislation, EBAs and awards.

Demonstrated high level of competence in managing large and complex payroll services including extensive knowledge of associated legislative and statutory requirement
