Your new company I've been engaged on an exclusive project to recruit a Director Of Engineering for a FinTech scale-up business with offices in Poole and Central London. It's a technology first organisation building disruptive platforms around Big Data, Real Time Streaming, Blockchain, AI and alike.This role is largely hands-off, but we need someone who has progressed from a Java background and it requires at least 1 day per week in the office.

 Your new role The team has grown considerably over the last year and Covid has proved to be an accelerator for the business. As their new Director Of Engineering you'll spearhead the leadership of a team of circa 20 Engineers and will look to grow the team beyond this for back end, front end and systems engineers. You will coordinate team deliverable, agree goals, monitor timeline and communicate status to board members. 

You should be enthusiastic about coaching and mentoring and helping to ensure that best practice is adhered to on security, testing and deployment.In this role you will ultimately be the go-to technical person in the business, but with an established team of Leads and Seniors underneath you.

You'll be working with some of the best technical minds in this field locally, running a mature adoption of Agile with a truly progressive build pipeline moving towards automation that is ahead of the competition. Development is fast paced and test driven. Sprints are two weeks long and feedback instant. They encourage the adoption of the latest technologies and you will participate fully in the evolving architecture.

 Bureaucracy is avoided to maximise time for development, in fact, they've had great success in attracting senior developers from bluechip companies that are hindered by red tape. What you'll need to succeed We're looking for someone with existing experience of building and leading large teams of engineers and delivering complex technology projects.You'll have a commitment to test driven development and will have progressed from a background covering some of the following stack: Java 17, Apache Flink, gRPC, GraphQL, ReactJS, Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL & Puppet.FinTech experience is not essential but an interest in the sector and its complexities are, What you'll get in return There is good flexibility in the working hours and 3-4 days remote.
