Director of External Corporate Communications

The Role:

AMD is looking for a candidate to lead our Corporate PR team and work. In this role, you will lead proactive media relations for all corporate activities and issues while partnering closely with other leaders in the communications team responsible for internal, executive, social and product communications. You will create differentiated messaging, drive proactive media engagements, and develop content that successfully strengthens the company’s corporate reputation while positioning AMD as an industry leader enabling the future of high-performance computing.

The Person:

• Experience working with and counseling C-level executives on all aspects of personal and company communications
• Ability to establish trust and credibility and empower colleagues across the organization, working collaboratively across the global communications organization while ensuring that corporate communications team members are guided and coached
• Demonstrated strong comprehension of financial market communications
• Passion for technology and the role high-performance computing plays shaping the future
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding working environment
• Successfully manage change, resolve conflicts and ensure collaboration within teams and across broader internal stakeholder organizations
• Strong project management and time management skills with an ability to lead several projects at once

Key Responsibilities:

• Corporate media relations, acting as the key point of contact for all corporate-level media inquiries and issues spanning both business and technology media
• Corporate storytelling that ensures our differentiated brand, technology and momentum are clearly communicated across key audiences as a part of strengthening corporate reputation and brand visibility
• Financial communications, working closely with Investor Relations, Finance and Legal while leading media relations for all public company reporting
• Maintaining and building strong relationships inside and outside the company, including with financial, business, and political media and cross-company stakeholders as well a global network of agencies
• Owning the development and execution of a global issues and crisis management program, identifying issues in real-time while working across internal teams to respond effectively
• Partnering with Government Relations to develop media strategies supporting key issues and initiatives
• Leading communications for corporate-level activities including corporate strategy, strategic financial transactions, ESG, corporate IT security, and product technology security.
• Managing reporting, results analysis and distribution of all key communications metrics to bring key insights and efficiency to the organization.

Preferred Experience:

• Translate complex technical and business issues into simplified messaging for internal and external audiences
• Capability to evolve the Corporate Communications function based on company growth to best promote AMD brand reputation
• Write and prepare materials, including press releases, presentations, emails, and content for AMD-owned channels
• Up to 30% travel may be required, including international
