About the organisation:

The Gore District's arts and heritage places are second to none. Their permanent art collections, and gallery spaces for touring exhibitions provide the area with an incredible arts and culture scene.

The Gore District Council (GDC) is one of three local authorities in Southland, the southernmost province of New Zealand. The GDC looks after the Gore District, which covers a population of about 12,400 with two main towns in the district are Gore and Mataura, with smaller settlements at Pukerau, Waikaka and Mandeville.

About the role:

They have a newly created role in their Communications/Marketing team for a Digital Communications Specialist which will manage the Council’s digital and social media channels.

They have a digital-first philosophy at the Council. You will be pivotal in developing and delivering a digital strategy that supports the Council in providing quality customer service and community engagement.

You will apply your skills to showcase the Gore District, events, inspire visitors and attract investors and new residents.

Key requirements:

• Ability and confidence to manage a range of digital platforms and social channels
• Maximize engagement and provide quality customer experience
• Develop and implement digital and social strategies
• Be able to lead the Council in embracing new technology and understand how new channels can be optimized
• Provide training and advice to staff on digital best practice
• Provide reports and insights of digital performance
