You will a key member of Sidekicker Engineering, you'll utilise your technical skills to build the platform that is revolutionising the temp industry.

As our first dedicated DevSecOps hire, you’ll join our newly formed Platform Team to work hand-in-hand with feature teams to help drive our platform goals, ensuring we are best of breed, reliable and secure. About the platform

At Sidekicker we run Product and Engineering roadmaps in parallel. This is so we can build new features to support our growing user base and at the same time modernise our technology for scale.

In the frontend we're building out a React/Typescript design system to power our customer and worker applications.

In the backend we're migrating our existing PHP backend to Laravel & NestJS and at the same time assessing new technologies as we start to break up parts of our application into microservices.

Our infrastructure is within AWS, with containerised Fargate workloads using Terraform for IaC, and Buildkite and GitHub to manage our CI/CD pipelines.

You’ll get to:

Install, configure, manage, and maintain applications such as AV, patching, log management, security, development tools and infrastructure

Work on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

Mentor feature teams on Infrastructure and Security best practices

Lead changes to application and infrastructure engineering designs and patterns

Support, maintain & enhance security automation and development tools

Help shape our DevSecOps practice with a focus on delivering secure services - we’re always looking to do better.

What you bring:

Great communication skills, both written and verbal.

A love of problem-solving, investigating problems and determining the appropriate fix.

Open to working in an agile development environment.

Experience with deploying microservices solutions to public cloud platforms (AWS strongly preferred)

Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code solutions, such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, CloudFormation

Subject matter experience with Cloud Providers (preferably AWS), application platform automation, security, scalability and operational readiness

Solid experience using continuous integration tools such as Buildkite, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar

Experience with web application security

Experience writing code with Node, Ruby, Python or Bash

Working knowledge of databases and SQL
