About Us

Harrods’ IT comprises of a broad and tailored offering to support out our luxury store in Knightsbridge, London and our Harrods.com website, as well as our wider Retail, Sales, Buying, Distribution, Fulfilment and Corporate functions. As part of the Harrods Digital Technology DevOps Team, you will support the production and non-production application environments across the digital estate, alongside owning and managing the associated deployment pipelines and cloud infrastructure. The DevOps Engineer role involves day-to-day hands-on operational activities while working closely with the other functions within Digital Technology, and you will align with the development lifecycle to support the effective delivery of new functionality and projects.

About You

You love new technologies, but you care deeply about business value. You are an advocate for security and quality assurance, but you understand the pressure for rapid delivery. You automate what you can, automate what you can't, and automate what you're told is impossible. You can commit hours of learning and practice to a skill or technology, but still evaluate it objectively against an emerging competitor. In other words, you embrace the essence of DevOps - not one plus the other, but a fusion of the best of both worlds.

You are currently using C# and SQL daily, ideally in a retail or e-commerce setting, and you are comfortable working on large projects with many other developers, using a GitFlow or GitHubFlow process to coordinate commits to version control. Experience of RESTful APIs is also key. You understand the core principles of continuous integration and continuous delivery, test-driven and behaviour-driven development, and general quality assurance principles. You have some experience of solution architecture and would be comfortable designing a simple three-tier application for the cloud, including necessary compute, internal and edge networking and security features.
