Minimum qualifications:

• Professional experience with Android development
• Experience in developing with Java and/or Kotlin (mobile or non-mobile)
• Experience working cross-functionally

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working with third-parties or partners
• Experience writing blogs and/or articles
• Excellent written communication and writing skills
• Participant in the Android community (e.g. answering questions on forums, contributing to open source projects, etc)
• Comfortable presenting in a public forum

As an Android Developer Relations Engineer, you’ll write code that is used by millions of developers, create and deliver content to help them learn, influence the direction of APIs, grow the Android developer community, and more. We’re a highly cross-functional team and collaborate with engineering, marketing, and other partner-facing teams - and of course, with developers in the community.

While much of our output is content (what we call “outreach”), engineering is at the heart of everything we do. In order to teach developers how to use these technologies, we first have to understand them deeply ourselves - and as “customer zero.”

Through these experiences and conversations with developers, you will help drive changes that improve the Android developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with one or more product teams across Android and Play to help developers successfully use the latest features, tools, and APIs
• Produce sample code for new APIs and tools, often providing early feedback to product teams to help ensure these features are developer friendly
• Create content including: tutorials, screencasts, videos, blog posts, podcasts, and more
• Interact with developers through events, community forums, messaging groups, and social media
• Present at events as needed
