About the Department

Engineering Excellence is a new function within ICG Technology. Our mission is to make it easy and enjoyable for development teams to go from a business idea to delivery of an innovative production solution. This will be done by improving and upgrading our tools, streamlining our processes, automating and strengthening our controls, and helping development teams adopt modern ways of working.

This new initiative represents a key investment in our future development capability. We are assembling an expert team to transform the working environment of the 18,000 people who make up the ICG development community and help them dramatically change their approach to developing software across the many different technologies we support. This is a challenging remit, but with the scale and variety comes a unique opportunity to be agents of cultural and technical change who have a huge impact on the bank.

About the Role

As part of its productivity and culture change program Engineering Excellence is keen to make Open-Source development a standard working practice at the firm.

Currently we consume from the Open-Source community but we are prohibited from being able to contribute back to the community which is a significant factor impacting hiring and retaining talent

The successful candidate will work with the required teams including legal, risk and control, HR, Info Sec to ensure a technical governance procedure is implemented to protect Citi and its developers to work in an Open-Source world safely

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement the necessary working practices to facilitate an automated procedure to ensure Open-Source contributions can be made safely and within policy protecting the firm and its employees
• Identify and works with a wide variety of teams to ensure all necessary control checks and policies are implemented
• Work closely with other teams across Engineering Excellence helping to drive culture towards both Inner and Open Source

Experience:

• Plugged-in to Open-Source culture, ideally via owning or working on projects, and capable of helping Citi developers adopt open practices to code sharing and collaboration
• Expert level knowledge of the working procedures of a CI/CD pipeline and the production approval process and the supplementary control mechanisms required to facilitate the move to Open Source
• Expert level knowledge & experience of the required procedures necessary to protect IP, the firm and its developers related to Open Source contributions
• Suitable experience of working with Open Source at a large FI highly beneficial

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred
