Queensland Treasury (Treasury) is the economic, fiscal, policy, commercial and investment advisor to Government and leads the Queensland Government's efforts to ensure the economy of Queensland delivers outcomes for the community.

The Deputy Under Treasurer, Economics and Fiscal (DUT) is a strategic leadership position for Treasury with overall responsibility for a range of critical whole-of-government economic and fiscal policy frameworks, initiatives, and services. The DUT is fundamental to Treasury driving the Government's plan to grow the economy and jobs, in line with the Government's economic recovery priorities and longer-term economic strategy.

The DUT works closely with the Under Treasurer and fellow executives to lead Queensland Treasury’s strategic plans and achieve our ambitious goals for Queensland and our organisation.

The DUT collaborates with senior leaders across the Queensland public sector to ensure a strong focus on the long-term economic and fiscal needs of Queensland, delivery of proactive, timely and responsive advice to Government and improved policy outcomes for Queenslanders.

Reporting directly to the Under Treasurer, the DUT is part of Treasury's executive leadership team, leading a multi-disciplinary team with accountability for a range of complex policy and strategic initiatives and functions, including:

• providing expert economic advice, forecasts and insights to the Queensland Government and driving the economic strategy for Queensland, the long-term reform agenda, and current economic insights
• leading the broad range of services, projects and programs relating to complex fiscal and financial matters, policy, systems and processes, and risk management functions for the State, including delivery of the Queensland Budget and the Government's Financial Provisioning Scheme
• driving the Government's productivity and regulatory reform agenda and overseeing the administration of the Government's regulatory review requirements
• improving access to and use of integrated and enriched data sets within Treasury, as well as broader data sets across the sector
• delivering fiscally responsible public policy advice and analysis that acts to promote economic growth and job creation
• supporting significant advisory committees and groups for Government by providing advice consistent with the Government's fiscal principles and objectives for the community
• oversight of the Queensland Government Statistician's Office (QGSO), State Actuary's Office, Queensland Government Insurance Fund (QGIF) and the Insurance Commission.

To be successful in this pivotal role, you will have demonstrated success as a leader in large complex private, NFP or public sector environments with significant expertise and knowledge of complex economics, fiscal and public policy that enables you to provide robust and influential advice. You will have exceptional stakeholder relationship capability and be commercially savvy and politically astute. A visionary, values-led leader, you foster a culture of collaboration and participation with an ability to drive positive change and continuous improvement.
