About this role

In Technology our aim is to create brilliant converged services over the best network and they’ll be personal, simple and brilliant to use.  Being part of the Data Centre Team in Technology the role holder plays a big part in this.  BT’s core business traverses our Network and Firewall devices – we need to make sure our Network is up, accessible and functioning correctly 24/7 to meet the expectation of our customers. 

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Support the planning and implementation of Fireflow requests on Checkpoint and Cisco firewall devices. 

• Support the updating of BT’s core Network diagrams.  

• Produce scripts and supporting documentation to allow change and new implementation activities to be completed outside of core business hours.

• Manage basic and complex network connectivity incidents, problems and change support within the operational environment .

• Represent the Cloud Services network security team providing technical input when called upon for direct and indirect engagement with other parties 

You'll have the following skills & experience

• Understanding of Network Security firewall technologies and their uses (Checkpoint and Cisco)

• Understanding of Data Centre Network Technologies

• IP Networking Skills

• Network routing and network routing protocol skills 

• Cisco/Checkpoint networking/security accreditations i.e CCNA / CCSA
