Database Engineering and Operations Lead - 123822

THE ROLE

AMD is looking for a Database Platform Architect and Operation Lead to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in database technology and data platform. In this key role your experience with on-prem and cloud native databases, transitional to big data, design and troubleshooting skill are crucial. In this role you will partner with project teams, vendors, support organizations, functional architects to drive database and data platform technology from inception to production implementation. The person

As a leader in IT, you will help to transform the database infrastructure with your vision—influencing others with your thought leadership, while managing the cloud operation. Your high EQ allows you to successfully influence others and inspire change at all levels. Your leadership experience in the IT infrastructure area and IT architectures in a public cloud environment will enable you to be an integral part of our IT team!

Key responsibilities

Define database strategy, roadmap and commit to change.

Collaborate with application, and infrastructure architects and be responsible for the defining-designing-delivering of the technical architectures, patterns, technical quality, risks, fitness for purpose and operability of technical architecture solutions.

Lead technical presentations demonstrating a good understanding of application, data, infrastructure, architecture expertise and application systems design.

Be a leader and mentor to operation team; be hands-on and lead by example; coordinate cloud operation.

Be able to hand-on troubleshoot and solving the technical issues; own the problem and drive for resolution.

Drive database platform automation, cybersecurity hardening and regulatory compliance.

Preferred experience

High-level experience in one of the SQLserver, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, and Azure, GCP, AWS cloud native databases.

Hands-on experience on database provision, maintenance tasks automation.

Demonstrable experience in database design and performance tuning and optimization for on-prem and cloud databases, including big data platform and data lake.

Database Administration & solution design with hands-on experience in database operations and optimization.

Experience in database security hardening, including access control, activities monitoring and encryptions.

Experience in database resiliency and high availability implementation, capacity planning, and operation incident preventions.

Good understanding and experience practicing DevOps principles and deployment, cloud-ready architectures utilizing IaaS/Paas/Container, event-driven and microservice architectures, Advance Analytics & Machine Learning.

Good understanding Cybersecurity and data privacy requirements, network topology, load balancing and network segmentation.

Academic credentials

BS/MS in EE, CS, Engineering, Science, Mathematic or similar
