Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and maintain databases.

• Identify, manage, and control risks and Issues. Recommend appropriate ways of handling risks identified within proposed solutions.

• Development and consultancy in relation to system/schema design, access patterns, locking strategy, SQL development, proactive and reactive tuning (including parameter config and tuning), capacity/cache management, job scheduling and maintenance.

• Identify, own, and manage the specific key risks and/or IT controls and BP standards that you are identified as the owner and/or nominee for on iCARE or Archer.

• Accountable for prioritising own use of time to deliver the workload encouraged of the role while working within policy and guidelines and applying technical knowledge.

• Role may have leadership responsibility for a team of Software Engineers and designers (including Aviva staff, contractors and GSPs) including supporting the team through delegated tasks.

• Seeks to utilise technical capabilities within the Platform to deliver better customer outcomes.

• Leads change in the team, implementing changes in operational structure and technical direction.
   

Skills & Experience required:

• IT Degree.

• AWS Certification or relevant solid experience.

• Able to work across internal & external teams.

• Proactive ‘can do’ attitude, good verbal and written communication skills enabling interaction between people of all levels.

• Significant knowledge of application support, development processes, standards and associated techniques.

• Proven knowledge of; database administration, software engineering practices and system management methodologies.

• Alfresco experience - desirable or similar product/package or contract management software experience.

• Prince 2 practitioner – desirable.

• ITIL Foundation – desirable.
