Our external facing team focuses on the process of collecting, cleansing, transforming, designing and modeling data for the purposes of drawing critical insights and conclusions that support decision making. This team designs and develops data science, machine learning, natural language processing and related solutions to address business needs. They assist in the management and delivery of large data science projects, work with a wide range of automation teams to validate findings and proposed analytics solutions for our clients.
Reporting to the Strategy Leader, the Data Strategy Lead will act as a strategic advisor, providing best-in-class guidance, expertise and direction over our firm’s data products and data technology strategies. This role will lead the area that provides strategic support and delivery to our internal clients regarding data products and data management, as well as the business execution of work streams associated with their stakeholders’ Digital Transformation and Products & Technology agenda. The Director, Data Strategy will have insight into all active (and prioritized) digital initiatives within our data-related business unit, the Data Digital Transformation Team (henceforth referred to as ‘Data DXT’).
This role will be responsible for driving the Data DXT’s digital strategy, inclusive of prioritizing their digital transformation initiatives, ensuring the firm’s top data technology priorities are strategized and resourced against at speed, and acting as both a single point of contact and a subject matter expert of data strategy, opportunities and initiatives for the firm and the Data DXT. The Data DXT initiatives can result in new technology build, import, procurement, and alliance opportunities for the firm.

What you’ll create and do
As a Senior Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Data Strategy & Delivery (60%)
Continuously develop and stay up-to-date on all digital transformation related knowledge about the Data DXT and their business - both internally and externally - to become the subject matter expert for data strategy and management
Ensure firmwide alignment of how we source, manage, protect and unlock value from data across the firm, ensuring all digital transformation initiatives related to Data are prioritized appropriately at the Data DXT level
Provide advice, expertise, and guidance on end-to-end data management and data use, and develop a strong understanding of the entire PwC portfolio of data products and technology to drive organizational coherence
Lead a team of dedicated specialists with the capacity to execute on the Data DXT’s prioritized initiatives, including data-specific Digital Strategists, Global Associates, and/or Product Managers, ensuring we deliver a consistent client data and analytics experience while fulfilling gaps in how we govern and do more with data
Research emerging technologies and develop an understanding of market best practices and technology strategies related to data
Manage the Data DXT’s full funnel of digital transformation initiatives (both active and future initiatives) and lead in the prioritization of work streams needed to accomplish said initiatives
Support and lead in the decisions and tactics needed to execute on any given Data-related Digital Transformation initiatives (imports, alliances, new builds)
Own the production of DXO (Digital Transformation Office) insights and reporting metrics for continuous improvement in relation to our firm’s data strategy and management
Relationship Management (20%)
Consult the charge on the firm’s data strategy, connecting the LoS’ in data efforts at the Data DXT, and help to create a data-oriented culture at PwC Canada by engaging the right stakeholders and ensuring their strategic data needs are met at speed
Lead and train a team of professionals who are dedicated to demystifying data and empowering teams with the right knowledge and tools to leverage data to make informed decisions and solve client problems
Act as a single point of contact between the Data DXT and the Products & Technology organization, providing them with best-in-class technology strategy services
Monitor and ensure the success of all analyses and execution of digital transformation and data initiatives on behalf of the Data DXT
Continuously maintain and communicate knowledge of resourcing capacity and align teams against prioritized initiatives at speed, conversing cross-functionally through the entire P&T org
Leadership & Operations (20%)
Develop and support in the execution of KPIs that align to firm strategy
Contribute, alongside other Strategy team leaders, in the analysis of operating data and in suggesting new ways of working to support team KPIs
Lead connectivity of DXT work and insights to broader DXO strategy
Ensure the success of the Strategy team by displaying leadership skills, inspiring organizational coherence, and suggesting new ideas and best practices
Work in a teaming environment, building and sustaining relationships with peers and colleagues

Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred (or related Master’s degree)
CPA designation preferred
Minimum 8-10 years of relevant work experience
Must have a strong understanding of process design and technology as it relates to data strategy and management
Highly developed and proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and develop new methodologies.
Experience with data and analytics software tools and service delivery practices
Experience using agile methodologies when conducting work
Strong leadership skills
Relationship building with senior stakeholders
Eager to participate in business development opportunities and initiatives
Superior organizational and project management skills
A self-starter who is quick to learn and apply new concepts
