    Job Description

    Are you looking for your next career move as a Data Scientist? Then look no further! Here at Lloyds Banking Group, we have an exciting opportunity to join the Group People Insight team as a data scientist, supporting the design and delivery of advanced analytics and modelling for the Group. This evolving area will have tangible impact on Lloyds Banking Group’s strategic journey and will directly inform the future of the entire workforce.

    Strategic workforce planning arms the business with an understanding of the current workforce supply (the permanent and non-permanent colleague base, their demographics, skill sets, and experience), future workforce demand (how many people will we need, what will their jobs be, what skills will they need), and the delta between the two. Using sophisticated predictive analytics, system dynamics, statistical modelling, and machine learning we can then develop optimised recommendations for the business on how to close the gap.

    What you'll be doing...

    Typical responsibilities might include using machine learning techniques to build insight into colleague career journeys and the likelihood of promotion or exit; natural language processing of skills data to develop capability profiles and inform learning investment plans; and scenario modelling turnover, funding, and diversity targets to predict workforce mix over the next 5 years. How we'll address these problems will be up to you and the other data scientists in the team, this is an opportunity to drive innovative solutions and methods that add the most value.

    This is not an MI or reporting role, but developing familiarity with a broad range of people data will be paramount. Colleagues are expected to seek out new and industry leading methods and technologies, and to deploy the most effective and efficient solutions to solve complex problems.

    What we need from you...

    A passion for statistical analytics! You'll be responsible for identifying and sourcing the right data, analytical methodologies, and tools to perform exploratory data analysis, test hypotheses, build data visualisations, and write commentary that tells a compelling, accessible story.

    If you're interested in a role that will have direct, tangible impact on the shape and makeup of Lloyds Banking Group over the next 5 years; that will provide the opportunity to influence and engage with senior leaders across the Group; that offers the chance to drive value-add analytics and creatively solve problems in the ways you're most passionate about; and in a team that delivers incredible business impact at pace then this is the role for you.

    This is a 12 month fixed-term role from January to December 2022.

    To be considered, this is what we need...

    • Analytics – knowledge of and application of robust statistical analytics methodologies, such as regression analysis, data classification, and data mining;
    • Technical – you'll need to demonstrate experience using of programming languages (such as R, Python, and SQL) and the interrogation of raw data.
    • Experience and understanding of machine learning;
    • Evidence of adding value to business operations through data science projects;
    • Behavioural – Drive and ambition to do great work and deliver with your colleagues;
    • Leadership – Ability and desire to step up and lead projects and people;
    • Curiosity – Insatiable need to learn and share new approaches, solutions, and ways of working;
    • Knowledge of business intelligence and data visualisation tools, like Tableau, and appropriate methods of sharing insights with stakeholders is also important. Experience with Workday and HR data is useful, but not essential.

    Want to hear more?

    You’ll be offered a competitive package which includes...

    • salary,
    • bonus,
    • a generous pension contribution and
    • Flex cash to spend on a host of benefits to suit your lifestyle.

    We're dedicated to giving you opportunities and support to develop you both professionally and personally to optimise your potential.

    As a new colleague, you’ll join us on our journey to build a 21st century bank that reflects modern Britain, and craft an inclusive culture where all colleagues feel welcomed and valued.

    We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit. We support the principles of agile working and are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We're an equal opportunity employer and deeply value diversity within our organisation.

    Together we make it possible!

    We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.

    At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain recover. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

    We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
