What you’ll do:

As a member of the Commercial Analytics & Experimentation team within the Applied Business Analytics Department, you’ll help drive decision making using the power of data and insights:

• Producing high quality, actionable insights through advanced analytics and cutting-edge predictive algorithms: work as a self-starter and be actively curious about what numbers are telling us and how they can be actioned upon to improve our customer plans, specifically in the channels and customer touch points (Targeted Comms, Voice, Digital and the Sky Box UI)

• Designing and implementing innovative insights roadmaps with your stakeholders to improve the way they make decisions: hypotheses-led problem solving to deliver solutions to business problems

• Developing relationships with stakeholders to reach a deep understanding of their business areas and support their objectives through best use of advanced analytics approaches

• Efficiently lead and mentor junior members of the team to deliver high quality output of their work

• Strengthening our internal data science capabilities by continuously innovating and driving new ideas, building technology partnerships with our vendors, training and developing our people and creating a world class data science team at Sky

• Using Experimentation and Reinforcement Learning in data science as a way to extract maximum value from data and produce cutting edge recommendations

What you’ll bring:

• Experience in leading and developing junior team members, motivating them and taking responsibility for the quality of their work

• Experience in delivering end-to-end advanced analytical solutions with measurable impact to the business by using a wide range of advanced analytical techniques including Forecasting, Predictive Modelling, Optimisation, Clustering, Ensemble modelling or NLP

• Previous experience in advanced data manipulation for modelling and/or data analysis in Python, SQL, R, SAS, Matlab. Machine learning: supervised/unsupervised learning, regression, decision trees, random forests, boosting, SVM, clustering

• Knowledge or experience of working with Google Cloud Platforms products like BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud ML or similar cloud solutions with web app and software development experience desirable

• Senior stakeholder management: committed to and be able to own and develop stakeholder relationships at Head of Department level with excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Extensive experience as a data scientist in a commercial data-rich BtoC environment, ideally in Media, Retail, Telecommunications, Gaming or Financial Services with an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline, ideally Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or Economics
