What's the role about?
Waitrose Digital & Social Marketing team has a fantastic opportunity for a Data Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.
The purpose of this role is to drive the development of and manage cloud based technology to enable the delivery of highly targeted and personalised marketing across all paid digital & social marketing channels.
You will be responsible for the end to end design, implementation and testing of software to gather data and make it available to multiple digital and social marketing teams to enhance our performance, please our customers and positively impact the commercial success of our business.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of HTML, DOM, and events, be highly skilled and an expert in working with a variety of Google Cloud capabilities and be confident in implementing and working with Google Analytics and other Google technology.
What will you be doing as a Data Engineer?

â— Work with digital marketing teams to find opportunities to automate and
streamline processes and implement the automation
â— Understand and connect disparate data sources in a manner that enables them to be activated by marketing teams
â— Project manage multiple requests and project activities at any one time to
ensure accurate, timely and efficient implementation and tracking deliverables

What you’ll have:
â— Experience working with a variety of Google Cloud capabilities
â— Advanced JavaScript and JSON skills
â— Strong knowledge of HTML, DOM, and events
â— Understanding of web protocols
◠Experience working with data – scraping data, data manipulation, regular expressions, etc.
â— Experience implementing or working with clickstream web analytics tools such Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics or working knowledge of the field of web analytics
â— Ideally some experience of wider digital marketing channels in particular paid and performance marketing channels
â— Understanding of digital marketing practices across digital channels (paid search, display, social, email, etc.)
What else you could bring:
â— Knowledge of Python
â— Experience of technical architecture
â— Experience implementing or working with Google Analytics and Google Tag manager
â— Strong online experience, ideally within grocery retail
â— Advanced JQuery skills
