Onboarding & Customer Comms will give you the opportunity to work in a fun dynamic team who are at the forefront of leading the way for customers & colleagues in transforming & digitising the Lloyds Banking Group Retail Bank across mobile, branch, telephony and internet banking. The transformation culture Onboarding & Customer Comms lives by is to empower its co-located teams to build dynamic environments using agile methodology, including scrum, ultimately providing outstanding customer experiences; and by driving innovative technology solutions that drive iterative change across research, buy and servicing needs to market at pace.

By joining OCC you’ll become part of a cross-functional team, working alongside the business, product owners and solutions architects to solve some of the Bank's toughest business problems. You’ll understand key business and lab priorities, develop new services and applications, create solution designs, identify potential technical impediments then work to resolve them.

By joining our team you’ll become part of a cross-functional team, working alongside the business, product owners and solutions architects to solve some of the Bank's toughest business problems. You’ll understand key business and lab priorities, develop new services and applications, create solution designs, identify potential technical impediments then work to resolve them.

What exactly will I be responsible for?

  • As a Data Engineer your responsibilities will be delivering the highest quality data capability, drawing upon your engineering expertise, whilst being open minded to the opportunities the cloud provides.
  • We need an individual that has the ability to; build reusable data pipelines at scale, has experience in working with structured and unstructured data, and feature engineering for machine learning or curating data for consumption through analytics and BI.
  • You'll be working in a variety of server and cloud environments, using industry leading toolsets, as well as evaluating exciting new technologies to expand our capabilities. With skills spanning the full data lifecycle and experience using mix of modern and traditional data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, Kafka, GCP, Azure, Teradata, SQL server) you’ll get to work on a vast range of high-profile projects providing you with horizon-expanding exposure to a host of wider technologies and careers in data.

We’re looking for colleagues with the following behaviours, knowledge & experience:

  • Passionate about both data and technology with interest and skills for solving problems through data.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, including the ability to influence and effectively communicate with a wide variety of technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Intellectually curious and loves learning new skills & capabilities and role models the Learning culture!
  • Sound understanding and / or interest in retail banking and a desire to apply your technical abilities.
  • Experience using collaboration platforms such as Atlassian Jira/Confluence and GitHub.
  • Experience working using agile principles
  • As a minimum we do need to see experience of the following for serious consideration:
  • Best practice coding/scripting experience developed in a commercial/industry setting (ASP.net, C#, VB.net, Python, Java script, Teradata, Postgres SQL, Web application, Windows application).
  • Current experience engineering or maintaining data systems
  • Comfortable working with relational and non-relational databases to build data solutions, such as SQL Server/Oracle/Teradata, experience with relational and dimensional data structures.
  • Knowledge of Kafka technologies
  • Computer science fundamentals: a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, design patterns and core programming concepts.
