The Role 

The Data Platform and Smart Services is the team that across Europe is designing the solutions to offer data services to mobile customers and is defining how they integrate with the Core Network. The platforms and areas that are managed by the Team are: PCRF (both Volte and Data), SecureNet, Traffic Steering and Optimization, MEC Architecture and Mobile Private Network. The team is also responsible for the lifecycle management of platforms which includes release planning and capacity dimensioning.

Within this technical perimeter, we’re looking for new Engineers in the Mobile Private Network area. He/she will be involved in the following activities: 

• Contribution to the selection of Vendors in the defined Area
• Definition and validation of the high-level architecture, HLD and LLD
• Definition of the configuration guidelines
• Setting of the dimensioning and functionality/performance goals
• Support/Execution of Solution Acceptance
• Support to the deployment of the platforms with the engineering delivery team

The Data Platform and Mobile Private Network Engineer will have the chance to deliver cutting-edge technology projects to Vodafone European Business customers through combining applied methodologies and innovative thinking. You  work mainly on Mobile Private Network services, but will have the chance to be involved in other innovative projects like 5G Core, NaaP (Network as a Platform) and MEC.

 Evolution Plan:

• Prepare an integrated 1-3 years’ evolution plan aligned with overall Data Core strategy and other technology domains such as PS Core and IP LAN
•  Identify and target introduction of new functionalities to support excellent customer experience 
•  Regularly analyse and check consistency in resilience and performance across Vodafone Operating Companies of designed service

Design

• Define, analyse, document and publish relevant design document covering topics such as topology, architecture implementation, vendor management, complexity management, etc.
• Specify detailed guidelines and engineering rules 
•  Continuously seek and implement improvements in network planning and design triggered by vendors and other internal stakeholders

 Dimensioning:

•  Guarantee the capacity management to support service growth  
• Work with execution units to monitor applicability of coherent dimensioning criteria across the networks and vendor solutions
• Monitor closely and analyse/react to changes in usage and forecasting affecting network load or functionality
• Ensure network harmonisation and standardization across countries 

 Engineering and Testing

• Define technical specifications for the integration of the solution into the network 
• Define testing specifications for homologation, evaluation and integration of new functionalities and new software releases

Apply if you have: 

• Extensive knowledge in Data Networks services and solutions, their challenges, requirements and development issues and their impact on customer experience.
• End-2-end visibility across different implementations and Vodafone Operating Companies specific customisations, to consistently manage issues related with technology and its implementation /harmonisation vs. different local market spins and realities.
• Good relationships with key stakeholders for data services such as Network Architecture, in country commercial/project teams, Vendors and Group P&S. Ability to manage and effectively evolve these relationships in the European organisation context.
• High sensitivity to operational and execution challenges and issues coming from the clusters and specific Vodafone Operating Companies in order to consider them effectively and consistently
• Ability to help define and target a vision in line with the business strategy and aspirations for Vodafone data services customers.
