About Us
The Woolworths Format & Network Development Team is a national team of over 650 people, responsible for developing retail stores of the future. We’re construction people, facilities and asset management people. We’re planning & commercial people. We’re architects and sustainability people. We’re network planners, data analysts, refrigeration and air conditioning people. We are operations and training people. We maintain all aspects of our supermarkets stores through having highly specialised, skilled team members across all trades. The Role
Our Network Planning Team’s core purpose is to guide our business to renew & deliver the right space, in the right place, at the right time. Our team works across multiple brands and retail types and our service offering continues to grow. As a result of this growth, we require a Data & Insights Analyst to help develop our integrated points of presence plan (multi-brand network location strategy).
As a Data & Insights Analyst you will assist in the development and maintenance of the tools and data assets that inform our location strategy and new store assessment process. You will solve complex business problems using data and insights solutions. Utilising customer loyalty data and other data assets to develop spatial tools, models and frameworks for the Network Planning team to apply and solve problems. In addition, you will be tasked with collating and organising large datasets to tell clear and effective stories to stakeholders based on your insights. You will also work with our state format, property and marketing teams to forecast and report on external retail activity to guide our customer retention program.
This role can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne and we operate in a progressive, flexible environment with a combination of working from home and office based working.
Key responsibilities will be:
Working within an agile environment to deliver solutions to complex problems using your data and analytics skills
Data asset management and development to enable reporting and tracking of our store network location strategy, retail market activity, and customer loyalty
Process and interpret big datasets to derive actionable insights
Use your excellent communication and storytelling skills to share insights with stakeholders
Develop reporting dashboard capabilities
Maintaining and building robust analytical tools to assist Network Planning forecasts
Building and managing relationships across the Network Planning team and wider business to enable collaboration
Successful Candidate will have:
High level understanding of SQL and Excel
Experience in database development, data querying / manipulation and data governance in SQL databases
In addition skills in Google Cloud Platform, Python or with Spatial Analytics highly regarded
A strategic, analytical mindset to solve complex problems by developing insights from data
Ability to create impactful slide decks in Google Slides or Powerpoint
Excellent storytelling skills to communicate insights to key stakeholders within the business
Well developed technical experience building and maintaining tools and reports
Excellent time management and organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines across an agile organisational structure
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills to encourage understanding of the solutions we’re building
Tertiary study in a related area (Data Science, Geography, Spatial Science/GIS, Economics or Mathematics) an advantage
