The Data, Analytics & Insights Office is helping to transform Openreach into a data-driven enterprise, where proactive insight is at the heart of our decision making - fuelled by the democratisation of data, improved data literacy of our people, constant access to the data we need and the ability and inquisitiveness to question, hypothesis, test and learn from data. Put simply, we want to empower every person in Openreach to always make the very best possible decision.
Joining the Data, Analytics & Insight senior management team, you will drive Openreach’s journey to being insight enabled and industry leading in data analytics. You will be central to how we democratise our data, bring new ideas, improve decisions making across our business, using new technologies enabling everyone from our Engineers on the ground to our planning teams to have access to the right data to enable them to be the best they can be in their roles.
You will use your expertise to deliver real technological change to provide data and data products in a consumable way.
You'll have the following responsibilities
• Delivery of two highly complex analytical cloud programmes, involving business, technology, process and people changes, on time, within budget and to agreed quality criteria
• Enabling seamless access to data and cloud capabilities and hold responsibility for powering & supporting the Business Intelligence, Applied Analytics & Process Re-engineering squads in being able to deliver their objectives
• Develop and deploy solutions that involve robotics and process automation across the organisation, to improve operational efficacy and consistency
• Truly understanding the way that data and the cloud need to be used and exploited to gain maximum value and be recognised as a subject matter expert across Openreach
• Provide the one truth source for Data and Measures, insuring quality and integrity of the data required to deliver Service Delivery's regulatory obligations and £4bn of revenue
• Shape, develop, transition and maintain data assets to be fully cloud-native
• Creating a strong interlock with Google, CTIO & BT Group Data Function specifically in order to ensure delivery is shaped with a data mindset enabling a powerful AI-ready architecture, as well as an aligned and consistent approach to technologies
You'll have the following skills & experience
• Have proven experience of data engineering on cloud platforms: GCP and AWS in particular
• Be proficient with common data engineering tools including Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Hadoop, StreamSets, Glue
• Have proven experience in robotics and automation technologies including the process from identification of opportunities to scaled delivery
• Hold experience with developing and scaling data technologies across big data, cloud data processing and data stores, operational and analytics databases
• Have proven experience with building, running and managing high performing data technology / engineering teams
• Have excellent communication skills and ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels
• Exposure with building large scale cloud native architecture is desirable, but not essential
• B.S. or M.S. in a relevant technical field desired or equivalent experience
