About this role

Data driven business use cases and decision making has never been more important to BT, to ensure we can create the best personal experiences for all our customers across our outbound, inbound assisted and digital channels.  Principal data architect co-lead responsibility with consumer architects and be responsible for platform tooling & data analysis

Helps to make our operations smarter and create ‘best in class’ data driven innovative products our customer will love. For example, predicting service impacting incidents before they occur using network telemetry data, identifying jeopardy in delivery plans based on historical events, or personalising upsell opportunities by harnessing a 360-degree view of the customer, up to leveraging IoT to support big initiatives such as ‘Household targets. Given the breadth of the role, the role holder will need to work closely with the wider Architecture team to interlock on Data Insight opportunities and ensure they flow through into the respective Domain, Sales and Service Technology strategies.

This role will take the lead in Proactively understand the Architecture design considerations for Consumer business drivers, needs, priorities required for data teams. It will oversee the architecture Consumer business needs and closely work with Consumer Principal data engineers and other Architects. This role will also lead architecture solutions. Design and manage measurement strategies for each learning solution. Develop learning plans tailored to individual groups and roles within the client organization. Communicate status and develop designs as required. Work closely with Consumer data & AI team members and architect leaders to support design activities.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Define data analysis required for data products and usage patterns across data solutions e.g., ETLs, APIs, SQL etc.

Collaboratively develop platform analysis (e.g., SQL, ETL, etc.) and validate outputs and help busines technology partner take right decisions required for the business in the roadmap for next few years.

Support the creation and implementation of new data feeds, as well as ongoing data quality and maintenance workflows

Perform metadata and data analysis on new and existing data sets, to support the development of new client products

Identify data issues, set data rules and cleaning requirements, and then support in the delivery of these

Working closely with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of data models and platform requirements.

Provide data and platform testing support to ensure they meet our requirements

Create innovative ways to help bring our data to life for our customers

You'll have the following skills & experience

Above all, you need to be a team player

Strong data querying & analysis skills using any flavour of SQL, with GCP BigQuery a plus

Knowledge of data structures and the ability enhance the data to be integrated across the business

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, for example, you will need to be able to identify problematic datasets and establish a root cause.

Experience in the visualisation of analytical data outputs on at least one visualisation platform (e.g., Qlik Sense, Tableau, etc.)

Good communication skills to quickly gain credibility with both technical and business stakeholders

Understanding of Python or similar would be an advantage

Understanding of data cleansing & data maintenance experience at large corporates with technology stacks at different lifecycle stages

Willingness and ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to changing situations
