Role Responsibility

You will study for a MSc in Digital and Technology Solutions Apprenticeship awarded by QA Apprenticeships and Northumbria University. 

Gain a deeper understanding of cyber security, including its concepts, technologies and practices.

Help us to keep the BBC safe and secure, by working alongside our other InfoSec Specialists, Managers and Architects to deliver ground-breaking cyber security solutions.

You will also contribute to deliver effective financial management, control and advisory support for the Divisional team working closely with senior management to help ensure high quality financial decisions are made.

The Ideal Candidate

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over when the course starts in September 2022
  • Have graduated with a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering, Mathematics with Computer Science, Physics with Computer Science or a related discipline. Applicants must normally have achieved 2:1 or above in relevant cyber security modules. 
  • We will consider any past-Apprentices who have already completed the Level 3 AAT or CICM Apprenticeship Qualifications.  
  • Have maths and English GCSEs or Standard (Scotland) at 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent
  • Be legally allowed to work in the UK
  • Have lived in the UK, Ireland or the European Economic Area (EEA), for at least three years before the start of the apprenticeship. Or have either pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme and lived in the UK, EEA or Gibraltar for at least three years.

We’ll ask you to give examples to show you’re:

  • Able to demonstrate degree-level knowledge of cyber security principles and technology
  • Able to apply cyber security principles in practice
  • A logical thinker and natural problem solver
  • Able to work on your own and stay motivated
  • Prepared to juggle work and study
  • Able to efficiently multitask and work under pressure
  • Good at communicating and collaborating with people at all levels
  • Flexible and resilient.

We are ideally seeking to recruit two graduate apprentices to train and develop at a postgraduate level with the aim of qualifying as Information Security Specialist, based in Belfast.

Start date: September 2022

Duration: 27 months

Salary: £29,250 in year one.
