Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience as a technical field engineer in a cloud computing environment or equivalent experience in a similar customer-facing role.
• Ability to travel as required.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience as a customer-facing field engineer.
• Experience with software lifecycle, build tools, and architecting/developing software for scalable, distributed systems.
• Experience using and/or managing databases.
• Experience in and understanding of data and information management as it relates to Big Data trends and issues within businesses.
• Knowledge of Big Data, PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, public cloud, and related industry and technical concepts.
• Ability to craft a compelling message and tailor it for a given audience.

As a Customer Engineer for Maps, you will work with the Sales team to advocate Google’s location platform to our customers. You'll engage with industry leaders and partner with them to devise a location intelligence strategy for their company. Additionally, you'll help prospective customers and partners to understand the power of Maps APIs and related offerings, explaining technical features, and problem-solving key technical issues.

In this role, you'll assist fellow Sales teams, problem-solving key technical issues for our customers, liaising with the Product Marketing and Engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends, and devising enhancements to Maps products. You'll also work closely with partners in industries such as ride sharing, local delivery, urban mobility and more.

You'll problem-solve technical issues for customers to show how our products can make businesses more productive, collaborative and innovative. You'll maintain on-going technical relationships and serve as our customer's advocate within Google, route issues, filing feature requests, and conducting regular best practice reviews to ensure their growth and success.

Responsibilities

• Work with various teams to resolve product problems affecting customer satisfaction.
• Work directly with Google's Maps API products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer/partner environments.
• Take responsibility for technical aspects of solutions to include such activities as supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of supporting technical resources.
• Prepare and deliver product messaging in an effort to highlight Maps API value proposition using techniques to include whiteboard and slide presentations, product demonstrations, white papers, trial management, and response documents.
• Design and implement solutions using products such as Maps API, Maps for mobile, and Google’s other mapping solutions.
