The opportunity

 

Based at Central Station an exciting full time permanent opportunity is on offer for a Crew Assignment Officer to join our Customer Service Delivery within Network Services.

 

The purpose of this dynamic role is to assign train crew and on-board staff to schedules and rosters arranging variations when required to meet changing circumstances and optimise quality customer service delivery through the use of available staff within the NSW Trains network.

 

Working with the wider Network Services and reporting to the Train Crew Assignment Centre (TCAC) this position is pivotal in ensuring that assignment and attestment activities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner to meet changing crew requirements as service changes occur.

 

Your role responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:

Assign NSW Trains Drivers, Guards and On-Board Crew to regulate schedules/rosters and make arrangements for crew to work extra hours as staff shortages or train services changes require.

In the absence of a Team Leader, supervise all matters of assignment, attestment and issue of documentation and equipment to crew.

Monitor train running and crew availability & develop options for crew assignments in light of changes to scheduled working.

Maintain computer based and written records of train operations and crew working.

Monitor all activities to ensure compliance with corporate policies, standards and procedures and relevant legislation.

Improve and evaluate work practices, primarily through the processes of audit, observation and review of incidents, to enhance efficiencies achieve continuous improvements in service delivery, ensuring job satisfaction and quality work standards are maintained

 

About you

 

You will be a decisive thinker and problem solver who can work effectively under pressure, particularly during peak periods when several problems may arise simultaneously.

 

It is essential that you will have demonstrated experience in workforce management within a dynamic live environment and have scheduling and rostering expertise.

 

You will be savvy with determining the best crew staffing result given crew availability and location and timing issues.

 

Experience working in rail or the Transport industry would be highly desirable.

 

The successful candidate will have a strong communication and negotiation skills and have a genuine interest in continuous improvements and best practice staffing operations. Collaborating and engaging with a wide audience and multiple stakeholders to meet organisational objectives will be something you really enjoy.

Salary and Benefits

 

The salary for this position is: RC Grade 5: $103,151 -  $119,520 plus Superannuation and Annual Leave loading.
