CPU RTL TEAM LEAD

 

THE ROLE:

 

As a CPU RTL Team Lead, you will have a unique opportunity to lead teams responsible for AMD’s next-generation CPU Core design.  You will manage an experienced, skilled, and motivated engineering team with a track record of success.  You will work on the leading edge of processor technology and collaborate with the Performance Modeling, Design Verification, Physical Design, and Post-Silicon Teams to make AMD’s ambitious future CPU roadmap a reality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • End-to-end ownership of RTL execution for AMD’s CPU Cores.  Work with Senior Architects and RTL engineers on technical planning, scheduling, and tradeoffs.  Design, collect and analyze metrics pertinent to RTL development.
  • Collaborate with Performance, Design Verification, Physical Design/Implementation, and Post-Silicon teams to deliver a high-quality CPU core that meets or exceeds program objectives.
  • Represent the RTL function and report regular progress towards program goals.
  • Direct people management of CPU Core RTL engineers.  Responsibility for their career growth.   Communicate program, organization, and company updates to the team.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience managing and leading CPU Core designs and experienced teams.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of CPU Design including Early Investigation, Core Architecture, Performance Analysis and Correlation, Design Verification, Physical Design/Implementation, DFT, Post-Silicon, and High-Volume Production.
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and teamwork/collaboration skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly with strong data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with a modern Instruction Set Architecture (ISA).

 

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • Technical background in one or more areas of CPU Design: Performance, Architecture, Design Verification, or Physical Design/Implementation.
  • Technical background in one or more CPU pipeline stages (e.g., Branch Prediction, Instruction Fetch, Decode, Execution, Scheduler, Floating Point, Load Store, etc.)
  • Scripting skills
  • Knowledge of x86 Architecture (ISA).
  • System level knowledge or experience (e.g., Memory Controller, IO, etc.).
  • Formal leadership and/or management training.

 

CREDENTIALS:

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field of study preferred.
