CPU Multicore Architecture Researcher - 126428

The Role:

AMD Research is an entrepreneurial research organization with a strong track record of driving research innovations into AMD products. We are a global leader in the development of the world’s most advanced high-performance computers (HPC), such as El Capitan, the world-leading 2 exaflop supercomputer.

AMD Research is looking for an innovative researcher to shape the architecture of next generation, energy efficient memory hierarchies and pioneering CPU multicore SoCs, targeting scalable performance on emerging and critical workloads.

You cannot stop inventing, learning, implementing, and validating new ways to increase compute efficiency, achieve unmatched performance and groundbreaking energy efficiency. Does this describe you? If so, then join us!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze performance limitations of current and planned hardware; conceive of architectural and software stack optimizations and new features to accelerate the performance, lower power, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Implement innovative software and/or hardware solutions and demonstrate their effectiveness analytically and in simulation
  • Drive the results of the research projects into product roadmaps
  • Submit patentable inventions
  • Clearly communicate research findings to academic, product and commercial audiences

Required Skills:

  • Deep understanding of CPU multicore and memory system architecture fundamentals
  • Extensive experience in performance/power analysis and processor simulator development
  • Proven experience in ideation, evaluation, and optimization of a research project
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python

Additional Experience Desired:

  • CPU hardware profiling measurements and workload characterization methods
  • Fundamental understanding of ISA architectures preferably x86
  • Good understanding of the CPU SW-HW interface

Academic Credentials:

  • PhD degree or equivalent accomplishments in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field preferred
