Job Description

What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

The Role:

AMD is ramping up to work on next-generation microprocessor design and AMD’s award-winning “Zen” high-performance x86 CPU family. This is an opportunity to join the team in the Spring or Summer of 2021 as a recent college graduate. Are you excited to complete your degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering and launch your career as a hardware design engineer? Do you love solving novel logic design problems and enabling new products to market?

When you join our experienced engineering team, you immediately get involved in our design efforts. We are responsible for high speed logic design and physical implementation of various subsections of low-power, high-performance microprocessor core, and we tackle global issues such as timing, global electrical issues, and the design methodology.

We have competitive benefit packages and award-wining culture. Join us!

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will use your academic experience in microprocessor design, high speed logic design, custom place and route, synthesis, and timing optimization to tackle responsibilities ranging from debug, synthesis, implementation, STA, timing closure using EDA tool flows, and more.

Preferred Experience:

  • Good solid understanding of Verilog, low power design techniques, gate-level design/verification, timing analysis and optimization, electrical reliability analysis and physical design.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and circuit issues/analysis
  • Experience with methodology definition and development, and tool scripting (e.g. Perl, Python)
  • Solid understanding of industry CAD tools related to timing analysis, circuit analysis and place & route
  • Knowledge of various circuit issues such as signal coupling/noise, IR, electromigration

Academic Credentials:

  • Master’s or Bachelor's degree required with emphasis in Electrical Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering
