A Court Registry Officer's duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Court Taking – this is the facilitation of running the court. This includes public speaking by introducing Judges (in English and Te Reo Maori), working closely with them in the Courtroom and Chambers, managing jurors and general administration of the court
  • Scheduling – liaising with participants and other Courts to effectively schedule and organise hearings in accordance with High Court practices, acting with urgency as the situation dictates, and being flexible in the approach
  • Customer Service – interacting with customers on any Court-related matter. Customer queries can come in via face to face, phone or email interactions – so you will need to be confident with all methods

  • Self-aware – our customers are unique and diverse, and you will be confident working, both individually and as a team, across a range of situations;
  • Able to multi-task and adapt to changing situations –some of our processes are repetitive, but you'll be able to manage conflicting priorities and move from one task to another quickly as the situation dictates;
  • Willing to learn & seek out information – legislation and processes in the Court are always changing and you will need to be able to adapt and take onboard feedback;
  • Resilient – there are times when working in the Court you will be working on high volumes of cases, the content of which may be sensitive in nature. You will need to demonstrate an awareness of your own wellbeing and resilience
