A year-long paid internship in our team will place you in the heart of our communications activity, giving you all kinds of commercial experience and insight into the workings of one of the most exciting retail businesses in the UK as well as the multiple brands within it. At Sainsbury’s, you’ll learn from talented and experienced people every day.
Working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, you’ll be at the forefront of how we communicate to customers, colleagues and shareholders to demonstrate Sainsbury’s has the right strategy to help everyone eat better, both now and in the future.
What you'll be doing
From day one, you’ll get stuck into a variety of projects and take on responsibilities that will make a real difference to the Corporate Affairs team and the wider business. And every day will be unlike the one before.
Working with both the Corporate Communications team and the Brand Communications teams, you’ll help deliver stories and events that bring our business and sustainability strategies to life.
You’ll also gain experience defending Sainsbury’s reputation and sharing your own ideas for positive stories that could catch the media’s attention, with the opportunity to see these through to press coverage. You’ll be involved in sharing content on our social media channels and website too. What’s more, you’ll play a key role in organising high profile media events, working with our most senior leaders to deliver crucial financial updates.
You will enjoy real responsibilities from the outset, as well as opportunities to shadow highly experienced professionals, to work directly with journalists, while also working with a wide range of colleagues and senior leaders across our business.
About you
You might be studying for a degree related to Communications, Media or English. Or you may simply love different types of media, the news and the written word. We’ll certainly expect you to demonstrate great communication skills, both in person and in writing. You’re highly organised, a real team player, and confident using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. In return, we’ll give you all the experience you need and an attractive salary to set yourself up for a rewarding future career.
Work-life balance is important to us, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role. We trust them to decide how, where and when they work, combining remote and collaborative working with a flexible approach to hours, giving them plenty of time and space for life outside of work whilst delivering against our business goals.
