If you want to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department, Robert Half is looking for a Controller to join a successful and growing company in the energy services sector. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and can be located in the Athabasca or Slave Lake, Alberta regions. This role's duties will require planning and directing, and doing all accounting operational functions, preparation of financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading the accounting team. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo.

Major responsibilities

- Preparation of financial statements

- Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

- Evaluate and refine policies and procedures.

- Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Prepare financial reports for ownership

- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

- Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations

- Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

Requirements

-Requirements:

- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Self-starter and strong ethical standards

- CPA preferred

- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively

- Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

- Excellent attention to detail

- Command of Financial Close Process

- General familiarity with cash flow management

- Solid understanding of Ad Hoc Financial Analysis

- Financial statement preparation experience
