Job Description

We are looking for a creative, talented and motivated engineer with a background and expertise in digital and analog control system component-level circuit design. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be the development and implementation of custom control system hardware for liquid immersion tanks which cool high performance compute blades. A strong skillset covering engineering analysis, simulation, schematic capture, component selection, bench testing and troubleshooting, communication and working with external partners is required.

Responsibilities

The candidate should possess most (or all) of the following capabilities:

  • Be comfortable with broadening their skills into new areas and systems outside their area core expertise, such as thermodynamics, chemistry, fluid dynamics, and fault-tolerant design

The candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Electronics and electrical design, schematic capture, documentation, component selection and bill of material creation, performance testing, firmware interface specifications, and system integration of embedded Linux based computer control systems
  • Analyzing subcircuits with simulation tools and calculations to verify its conformance to the design requirements.
  • Writing component and system level specifications and verification plans
  • Develop project documentation including specifications, schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, schedules and presentations to meet requirements and communicate the electrical design and its progress to the team
  • Working with test engineers to develop a comprehensive test fixture and procedure to validate performance of the control system
  • Working with vendors and partners to develop engineering specifications for custom components
  • Working with mechanical, firmware, and reliability engineers and program managers to meet the system design specifications
  • Design, build and test rapid prototypes in the lab for evaluation of new product ideas or technology concepts.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of work experience preferred, relevant to the capabilities and responsibilities described above and related to:
  • Proficiency in Cadence HDL or similar schematic entry CAD program.
  • Proficient in digital design, analog circuit design, and power distribution techniques of modern microprocessor systems-on-chip
  • Sufficient understanding of “C”, scripting languages, Python, Linux, and development tools to write simple debug code and bring up microprocessor systems
  • Good hands-on bench skills including use of high speed oscilloscope, digital multimeter, time-domain reflectometer to validate and troubleshoot circuits
  • Design of printed circuit board layer stack, understanding of transmission line techniques used on PCBs, direct experience with PCB layout design or working with PCB layout engineers
  • Experienced at detailed component selection for bill of materials; understands parameters on component datasheets and how they affect the design
  • A track record of circuit design and transition to manufacturing of moderate complexity electronic products
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills with a solid understanding of core engineering principles, fundamental circuit design, and analytical techniques is required.
  • Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms.
