KiwiRail is one of New Zealand's most significant freight movers. We move over a third of our export goods across the country, using a wide range of services from temperature controlled, to containerised and bulk loads. Needless to say, we rely on our talented team to keep us running smoothly - and that's where you come in!We have an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about working in freight/logistics to start their career in rail. You may have had previous experience working around Heavy Machinery, a background in Transport, Freight or Trucking and you're looking for that next challenge that will develop into a career not a dead end job.Working as a Container Terminal Operator you will be responsible for: 

• A variety of ground duties within our Container Terminal site
• Loading and unloading trains and trucks
• Loading and unloading containers from wagons and trucks in and around heavy machinery

Prior to driving large Hoists in our Terminal you learn all facets of our ground Operations within the Terminal. This may take up to 6 months or until we are confident you have a full understanding of our ground based duties prior to Hoist driving.To be successful in this role you need:

• Class 2 Licence (Preferred but not essential)
• F endorsement (including OSH), or be willing to obtain these
• A true passion for the freight/logistics industry
• A demonstrated focus on Zero Harm and working safely at all times
• Flexible and adaptable to change (no two days are the same)
• To be a team player who can work well with others
• Confidence using basic computer programmes
