Compliance Business Partner
This exciting role placed within the Compliance function (C2-UK-F-C) of the BMW’s national sales companies for UK & Ireland, Park Lane Limited as well as BMW (UK) Holdings Limited & BMW (UK) Pension Services Limited provides business partner support, in particular in relation to FCA regulations and data protection.
This role is responsible for:
Developing, compiling, implementation and reviewing all required Compliance policies, guidance notes and procedures.
Responsible for facilitating the approval of policies within the business.
Monitoring of regulatory changes pertinent to the business;
Reviewing key outputs from relevant regulators, industry bodies, trade press etc. to ensure that senior management and the relevant business units are aware of regulatory developments that impact on the business.
Providing training within the business covering key regulatory matters pertinent to the companies.
Providing on-going robust & independent regulatory advice to the Senior Management and the wider business, making recommendations as appropriate while challenging the business, where appropriate, at all levels in relation to Compliance topics.
Assisting the Compliance Advice Manager to develop and implement an effective Compliance framework which covers all key activities undertaken within the business.
Assisting with the delivery of the Annual Compliance Plan, contributing to reporting of performance against plan.
Providing regular updates to the Compliance Advice Manager & Head of Risk, Governance & Compliance on compliance activities.
Assisting with the investigation of suspicious activity escalated by staff, perform ad hoc investigations and special reviews of Compliance breaches as they arise and advise on, organise and monitor the implementation of breach remediation measures as required.
Act as the Company compliance resource in all project and product & service development activities, including steering of projects/developments from inception to conclusion in a compliant manner.
Handling requests for exercising data subject rights ensuring also full liaison with all internal and external stakeholders & bodies including regulators.
Performing and facilitating interaction and communication with internal and external interfaces, which includes a negotiating mandate, in order to:
Promote the role and raise the profile of the Compliance function;
Encourage a proactive compliance culture within the companies and improve knowledge of key regulatory initiatives (such as Treating Customers Fairly ("TCF")) within the business;
Engender a customer centric approach, promote TCF and encourage a culture of openness and transparency;
Identify potential regulatory (particularly conduct risk) issues that may arise within the business and suggest recommendations for improvement, sharing best practices where relevant.
Collaborate with headquarter functions to align the local compliance requirements with HQ requirements.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent;
Significant knowledge and experience in Data Protection laws & regulations; consumer & product laws relevant for the automotive sector desirable.
Significant experience in legal or compliance role ideally within a regulated automotive sector;
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent time management skills and the ability to operate under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a proactive approach to seeking information and identifying solutions;
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate & influence across all levels as required;
Ability to work on own initiative without direct supervision having a self-motivated and positive attitude to deliver high quality;
A commercial qualification and a legal background are desirable;
Understanding and interest in future automotive trends are desirable;
Experience of working and effectively communicating with headquarter functions and Group companies in other jurisdictions is desirable;
Experience in, and qualifications in Project Management and Programme Management will be an advantage.
