Our people are at the heart of National Museums Liverpool. Colleagues from across the NML team make a difference every day, creating memorable experiences for everyone and challenging expectations. We pride ourselves on being a place for everyone, but we are always aiming higher, aspiring to be representative of the communities we serve. Through our people, we are building a culture which embeds trust, respect and inclusion and an organisation in which people are engaged and empowered to enable National Museums Liverpool to evolve. You could be just the right person to join us.
We currently have the post(s) of Community Participation Lead (Communities) available.
There has never been greater public demand or a more pertinent need to understand the heritage of the transatlantic slave trade and discuss its legacies. This is a unique opportunity for someone with the passion, energy, and dedication to join our Learning & Participation team in a role that is critical to building relationships and trust with community stakeholders most affected and most invested in the outcomes of the International Slavery Museum re-development, and wider Waterfront project. We want to work with communities so a more diverse range of people can create a vision to transform the International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund with thanks to National Lottery players.
As part of the Waterfront project, our community-driven vision for the expansion of the International Slavery Museum is clear: we want to develop the Dr Martin Luther King Jnr. building and explore how visitors understand the history of Liverpool’s waterfront through the lens of the transatlantic slave trade. The role will be critical to building relationships and trust with community stakeholders most affected and most invested in the outcomes of the International Slavery Museum re-development, and wider waterfront project. We are looking for someone who is passionate about co-production, particularly with Black communities, to achieve honest and valued contributions and help create organisational change.
