Lincoln University has a student roll of around 3,000 and approximately 600 staff.

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga - the nature of the position

We are looking for a Community Development Coordinator to join our motivated and supportive team, ensuring Lincoln University students receive positive experiences through events, activities, pastoral care and academic support.

You will have an empathetic outlook and have the ability to create a positive impact on students' lives. Additionally, you will thrive on boosting morale, facilitating and fostering academic spirit within the halls and supporting students in all around wellbeing.

You will enjoy providing exceptional customer service and as well as organising, coordinating and advertising events and activities that will entice participation, and have relevant experience supporting the wellbeing of young people.

This is a full-time role and working outside of standard office hours will be required. The hours for this role are varied due to the events schedule and other planned activities that you will organise, these can be set in advance and made the same for each week or can be varied.

This is up for discussion with the Accommodation Manager.

This is a one-year fixed term role located at our Lincoln campus.

Ngā tino Pūkenga / Whēako - Essential skills / experiences for the role

To be successful in this role, you will have :

  • A relevant qualification or demonstrable experience
  • A successful work history with young adults from a wide range of cultural and international backgrounds
  • Proven and successful work history and experience with academic support
  • High level computer literacy including word-processing and the use of spreadsheets
  • Ability and flexibility to multi-task and achieve multiple deadlines
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and positive in stressful situations
  • A high degree of integrity and ability the maintain confidentiality
