KÅrero mÅ te tÅ«ranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is looking for a Communications Adviser-Students with experience of writing high-quality communications for a range of channels, managing different communications workstreams, and creating engaging content for diverse audiences.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the opportunity to support a discrete programme of work, and with the knowledge your work makes an important contribution to the student experience.
The role will provide communications advice for the different workstreams supporting the implementation of the Pastoral Care Code at the University. This includes updating and maintaining collateral and digital content, devising effective communication plans, and providing communications and marketing advice to support the implementation of new processes.
The role will also provide communications support for the implementation of a Wellbeing Framework at the University and support the Director, Te Pūrengi—Student Experience and Wellbeing with communications required for the University’s self-review under the Code.
The role will work closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager—Students, the Te Pūrengi—Student Experience and Wellbeing Director, colleagues within the Student Experience and Wellbeing group, and within the wider University.
The role is a fixed-term position based within the Communications group.

You’ll be an excellent writer and communicator, able to translate complex concepts into engaging content that is able to be used in a range of channels. You understand the value of effective communications and the importance of accuracy and consultation.
You will be a motivated individual who can take the initiative, has strong attention to detail and can build effective working relationships.
You enjoy working autonomously as well as being part of a dedicated team, and want to learn from others as well as contributing your ideas and expertise.
You will pick up new skills, knowledge and software quickly and be able to adapt to a changing environment. You understand the importance of feedback to continually improve the effectiveness of communications.
