I am working with a leading tier 1 commercial main contractor who are building our their commercial and procurement teams in relation to a flagship project located in AKL.

In the capacity of Commercial Manager, you will lead, plan, manage and control the Quantity Surveying function and full contract servicing of projects including monitoring and reporting on the financial position of projects.

Managing costs / margin and profit for the business while still achieving the required standards for time, quality and service is key and your ability to develop positive working relationships with professionals round you including the Project Director, PM’s, H&S and Commercial Director will be imperative to your success in the role.

You will be a leader and expected to give direction and drive to the commercial team ensuring they adhere to agreed structure and processes.

Your team will understand the long-term vision set by yourself and be clear on their roles as individuals and as a collective supported by clear, tangible targets.

• Skills / Experience Required;
• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or relevant discipline
• Minimum ten years’ experience in the construction industry at a Senior QS role
• Specific experience in leading and managing commercial team at large and complex projects
• Proven experience in a large construction / multi project environment
• Ability to set team targets / vision and create positive team environment
• Establish and maintain project systems, structures and processes
• Make contractually and commercially prudent subcontractor and supplier subletting selections
• Understand terms and conditions of the Head Contract
• Manage project margins and ensure established financial budgets for projects are met
