As a systems administrator of a Cloud based product you’ll be working within a fast paced, constantly evolving team, that delivers world class secure solutions that make a real difference to our customers. You’ll be playing a vital role in the ongoing management, support, and maintenance of a critical system for us and our customers, ensuring high levels of reliability and platform uptime.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Providing ongoing support to an existing cloud-based platform and resolving technical platform issues.

Carrying out regular platform management and maintenance activities such as user management, platform monitoring and patch management. 

Automating specific management and maintenance activities, to increase efficiency and platform availability. 

Working in close partnership with, and as an integral part of, the development team to understand and take on support of updates and new deployments.

Working directly with our customers to understand their ways of working and requirements, in order to better support and manage the platform. 

You'll have the following skills & experience

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, you will be required to gain and maintain high level government security clearance and be willing to undergo the initial enhanced screening.  All job offers are conditional on these requirements. You will need to have UK residency for 9 out of the last 10 years and be a UK national. At least one of your parents is also required to be either a British citizen or hold citizenship/nationality.

Skills:

Utilisation of Cloud (both compute and appropriate managed services).  Primarily in AWS with growth likely into Azure and GCP.

Managing patching and sustainment of deployed instances and gold build images for web servers, databases (document, SQL), and other services (Active Directory, load balancers, proxys).

Windows/Linux/AWS Managed Services.

Managing configuration as code for reliability and repeatability (Ansible/Chef).

Supporting BAU tasks and automating patterns in a complex systems environment. (eg new cloud account creation, bulk user management, environment housekeeping, monitoring and compliance).

Problem solving/troubleshooting technical platform issues, and continuous integration of prevention strategies/tools (SRE).

A desire to continually update, enhance and validate cloud skills (both practical and certification).

Experience:

Certification in AWS is desirable, but practical AWS experience is more important. 

Experience in internal and external stakeholder management and engagement
