Job Description
Working closely with Citi’s Chief Currency Strategist, to promote CitiFX’s business by providing analysis of foreign exchange and broader financial markets, through client interactions, thought leadership publications and trade ideas. Working closely with FX sales and trading and Citi’s internal stakeholders, to create sustainable and scalable investment recommendations, and currency management solutions for institutional clients.
Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality, commercial analysis and thought leadership of foreign exchange, policy decisions and broader financial markets for Citi’s key institutional clients
- Create and deliver effective publications and presentations to clients, to provide market and policy analysis, currency management solutions and investment recommendations
- Develop models, tools and frameworks to analyze foreign exchange and broader financial markets and policy decisions. Being rigorous, data-driven and empirical is critical for this role.
- Build close partnerships with FX Institutional Sales and Trading and other key internal stakeholders to serve Citi’s institutional clients
- Actively participate in team efforts to support internal stakeholders and external clients. Contribute to team training and mentoring
Qualifications:
- 3+ year of experience in an analytical markets role, preferably with direct experience in foreign exchange or other macro-driven markets
- A strong understanding of macroeconomics and drivers of exchange rates, economic policy and central banks
- A good understanding of financial derivatives desirable
- Advanced degree in a quantitative subject, economics or finance; Phd desirable
- Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
- Fluent and confident communication skills;
- Excellent writing skills in English;
- Ability to carry out quantitative analysis and to work with large datasets;
- Good coding skills (eg in Python, R, SQL, VBA).
- Extreme attention to detail;
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently;
- Creative thinking and effective problem solving;
- Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
- A team player.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred, PhD desirable
