Mō te tÅ«nga | About the role

We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the management and governance of our strategic financial and budget operations. In this role you will lead changes to our funding and performance to ensure that we can meet the evolving needs of Oranga Tamariki.

We are undertaking a significant multi-year programme of change and as our CFO you will provide our Leadership Team with strategic financial advice and strong governance.

In this position you will provide strong leadership, vision, direction and structure to our financial operations and decision-making to ensure best practice and to ensure all expenditure and procurement is accurately controlled, recorded, reported and that we manage cost and risk to optimise value.

Ideally, you will have a proven track record at an executive leadership level in financial management and control and proven delivery of sustained financial performance.

Key requirements of the role include: 

  • Proven strategic leadership and financial management
  • Excellent communicator who collaborates and influences change
  • An ability to embed a culture of high performance, integrity, professionalism and continuous improvement across the finance function and wider business
  • Proven ability to optimise and improve financial controls, performance and outcomes and lifting the capability of budget managers
  • Ability to connect strategy, planning and performance information (financial and non-financial) to support effective decision making
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and hold qualified Chartered Accountant status with CAANZ or a similar professional qualification
  • Knowledge and or understanding of the Machinery of Government
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
