Job Description

Covering a large commercial portfolio comprising largely office, industrial and workshop space let to a range of small to medium enterprises through London's zones 1-4, you will be one 12 professionals within the department, surveying and project managing works across the diverse estate.

Your role will include a broad range of instructions and programmes, with key areas of work as follows:

  • Acting as lead PM & CA on a variety of projects ranging from £50,000 to £1-2 million
  • Providing professional advice and solutions to building defects and safety issues within the portfolio and implementing solutions
  • Manage internal refurbishments / fit-outs of meeting rooms, reception areas, offices and other building facilities up to £500,000
  • Manage annual reinstatement cost assessments, and planned maintenance processes
  • Producing vendor surveys and supporting the acquisition of new properties
  • Managing dilapidations claims, and external consultants throughout the process
  • Manage Licences to alter, reviewing and approving (when suitable) for customers

The rewards

In return for your commitment and work as a chartered building surveyor, you will receive a competitive salary, starting at £55 - 60k for Chartered Building Surveyors and £65-70k for Senior Surveyors within the department. you will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual performance and annual company results, which have been regularly exceeding expectations. You will also have one professional subscription paid for by the company.

You will be enrolled on to an attractive company pension with your employer doubling your contribution, starting with a 3% employee contribution and 6% employer. After a year you can increase this to 5% / 10% employee / employer contribution.

On completion of your 6 month probation you will be eligible for the company's private medical scheme. You can also enrol on the company share-save scheme enabling you to purchase shares in the company up to £500 per month for 3-5 years.

The company provides a life insurance / death in service scheme which is 4 x your annual salary, in the event of death in service of the company. In addition to this you will be enrolled on the personal accidental scheme which provides you with 66% salary up to 104 weeks for temporary disablement, with 3 x annual salary payable in the event of permanent disablement.

You annual leave entitlement will be 25 days per annum + bank holidays, with your allowance increasing by 1 day a year up to 5 years with the business. on top of this, you will receive an extra day off to celebrate your birthday.

The requirements

To be successful in your application to this Chartered Building Surveyor position, you will need to meet certain criteria as follows:

You will need to work or have worked as a building surveyor, and hold a full membership to the RICS, either as MRICS or FRICS.

You'll have in depth commercial building surveying experience, specifically possessing practical knowledge of dilapidations, pre-acquisition surveys, reinstatement cost assessments, license to alter and contract administration through Traditional JCT suite.

This role requires a high level of verbal and written communication, and therefore your communication skills must be excellent. You must be able to work autonomously, using your own initiative with minimal supervision, taking a proactive approach to your work.

Your team skills must be strong, as your department is a close knit team who work collaboratively to achieve successful outcomes, therefore being able to work well with others is an essential requirement.
