Job Description

A number of exciting opportunities for Buying Assistants have become available within the National Buying department of ALDI Stores, based in Minchinbury. These positions are 12-month fixed-term contracts. 

As a Buying Assistant, you will assist the Buying Director/Manager in sourcing, developing and evaluating products from conception to shelf readiness! In this end to end role, you will be the first point of contact for external stakeholders, build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and meet time sensitive project deadlines.

With proven experience working as a Buying Assistant (or similar role), you will be able to work within a fast paced, highly administrative and ever-changing environment. Being highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to build strong supplier relationships is integral in this challenging but rewarding position. 

 

Selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Buying Assistant (or similar) role
  • Comprehensive administrative experience
  • Reporting and analysis experience highly regarded
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential
  • Ability to adapt in high stress situations
  • Ability to learn new programs and processes

Role responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Buying Director/Manager in sourcing, developing and evaluating products from conception to shelf readiness
  • New product development (NPD) 
  • First point of contact for external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with various suppliers
  • Coordinate with stakeholders in order to meet project deadlines
  • Assist with artwork design
  • Product specification development
  • Advertising brief and sample management
  • Assist in problem solving and product delivery/process issues
  • Stock forecasting and planning
  • Providing and preparing information required for product sampling
  • Maintain confidential product and supplier records

 

This role reports to the Buying Director or Buying Executive Manager.
