We have an amazing opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our Pharmacy team, managing the Over the Counter Healthcare range of Pharmacy. The healthcare market is critical to our customers and particularly given the current climate we are all living in today. 

Our categories have a mixture of well-known brands and a developed Own label presence.  It is a highly competitive market with the discounters ever growing in this category. Asda are the only grocer with fully owned healthcare assets – 254 Pharmacies, 156 Optical sites, all store full in aisle presence. 

Your Role 

You will be responsible for buying key seasons such as allergy, winter meds and managing daily weekly admin such as Pricing & Promotion management.  You would be working with some of the biggest brands as well as small suppliers with innovative products.  The category requires careful JBP management, range building, seasonal trading and an eye for product as there is a constant flow of innovation in the market. 

You will work closely with the Pharmacy team who manage our prescription medicine business and the Pharmacy store teams, who have great customer insight into this area's requirements.   

You will need to have a natural ability to negotiate with big brands, collaborate and nurture smaller suppliers, the desire to drive Own brand growth, have the ability to multi-task, forward plan and work cross functionally.  

About You 

• A sound understanding of the customer and a passion for great customer service. 
• A passion for driving the own label agenda. 
• Understanding of how to analyse and build ranges to deliver growth. 

• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage and influence a diverse global supplier base 
• High level of analytical capability and ability to make the complex simple.
