About this role

Reporting to the Business Operations & Innovation Manager, the role holder will provides effective resource management and planning to optimise the Chief Engineer/Civils training and / or buddying programs to maximise utilisation and productivity of the workforce. The role holder will work closely with key stakeholders to develop and execute training plans and timelines that both manage agreed demand whilst working within the operational needs of the business.  

The role holder will have a clear focus on business benefit and efficiencies and strive to ensure the correct candidates are prioritised to ensure the best possible outcome and ROI whilst working closely with Business planning and strategy teams to ensure operational activities reflect the agreed business plan.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Working with teams within the chief engineer and across the business to capture and facilitate our kit, vehicle and training needs for external recruits 
  • Accountable for supporting performance in operations by  developing plans for improving skills and effective implementations .
  • Capturing and collating the training requirements for each delivery and support team across Chief Engineers
  • Inputting into the quarterly learning plan as well as the Annual Learning Plan
  • Responsible for challenging assumptions on demand, where appropriate to ensure that they are fully thought through, accurate, and agreed by relevant owners.
  • To build training / buddying plans that reflect the demands of the business. 
  • To be responsible for the day to day delivery of above plans ensuring that any training is targeted to identified areas of need.
  • To support the collection, collation, analysis and presentation of information to senior management, on behalf of CE, on all key aspects impacting resourcing and skilling. 
  • To support and deliver all aspects of analysis that will lead to identification of major change initiatives across the unit.
  • Identifying training needs for existing workforce as well as internal recruits by analysing current learning records against skills required to do the role and identifying the gaps

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Ability to develop strong, collaborative working relationships across the business to drive delivery of the Chief Engineer and Openreach customer commitments. 
  • Relevant experience, with good understanding of training and buddying activities within Openreach.
  • Managerial /L&D experience desirable
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to deliver training plans to a high quality.
  • Demonstrable communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills, leadership and influencing skills. 
  • Capability to deliver quality solutions to tight time scales.
  • Problem Solving Skills -  Ability to analyse problems and issues and resolve them independently. 
  • Strong Communication Skills – Have the  ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and by writing, with customers, colleagues and management team. 
  • Strong Organisational Skills– Ability to plan, prepare and prioritise your work load effectively
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel and Outlook
