Business Line Controller – 4 days per week (Job Share)

The key responsibility of the role holder is the monitoring and control of the BMW Financial Services UK and Ireland Operating Expenses budgets, together with the efficiency and control of cost and resource allocations through accurate reporting and liaison with business line and cost centre managers. In addition, supporting the Business Line Controlling Manager in the monitoring and controlling of headcount to ensure BMW Financial Services UK and BMW Financial Services Ireland stay within their approved budget. For all activities, Group, Management and Controlling guidelines must be followed rigorously. 

• Key role in budget and rolling forecast process for BMW Financial Services UK and Ireland. Responsible for completing/updating the relevant planning models and submitting the data to Munich, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Group and local reporting deadlines.
• Support the Business Line Controlling Manager in reconciling and controlling UK headcount by monitoring actual headcount against BMW Group target and predicting future positions, and preparing a monthly headcount update, which is presented to the local Management Committee.
• Ensure OpEx for UK and Ireland are well controlled through effective cost centre management, by supporting an effective and challenging budget process as well as accurate cost centre reporting and liaison with cost centre managers.
• Monthly analysis of OpEx performance vs Budget and Forecast, including provision of timely data to the Financial Accounting function to assist in month end closing activities.
• Working with a wide variety of stakeholders; including: IT, Purchasing and business line managers whilst providing first level Purchase Requisition support to the business.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background.  Degree in numerate discipline preferred, A and B grades at A’ level and GCSE.
• Experienced in the use of SAP
• Qualified Accountant with technical IFRS accounting knowledge
• Commercial experience in a dynamic organisation (ideally Financial Services or similar business).
• Analytical and objective approach to problem solving.
• Ability to convert complex financials into easily understandable key point summaries.
• Strong analytical and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to liaise with and present to stakeholders at all levels
