Do you want to become part of the Analytics team in the fast-growing Cargo branch at Air Canada? The Cargo Analytics Team aims to provide best in class analytics, predictive and prescriptive solutions to our internal stakeholders. Increasing the customer experience by empowering our stakeholders to have the right information at the right time to make the best business decision is our key objective.
As BI Developer, you will help us succeed to augment the customer experience through data visualizations and reporting that are enabled by advanced analytics and ensure state-of-the-art delivery to the decision makers.
Reporting directly to the Manager Business Analytics the BI Developer will work in close collaboration with the Strategic Insights and Analytics team. You will be responsible for leveraging existing and new data sources to deliver meaningful analytics through the creation of data visualizations, interactive dashboards, and reports. You will also continuously innovate by using the latest analytics and business intelligence techniques and best practices to drive improved decision making and answering business questions.
Additionally, you will also work closely with the CRM Team and play a key role in the development and creation of dashboards within the Salesforce solution.
Key Responsibilities
Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs, manage expectations/timing and exceed expectations in creation and maintenance of reporting, analytics, and BI requirements to support and drive the business with strategic insights.
Create strong relationships of confidence and trust with the key stakeholders
Develop a solid understanding of the different business processes to provide the best analytical/visual solution supporting these processes
Gain in depth experience and understanding of the data landscape at Air Canada Cargo
Act as a consultant and business partner to the decision makers on their analytical needs to ensure they get the most benefit out of the available datasets
Based on the requirements, collect, and prepare the relevant data from different data sources
Develop and implement dashboards while ensuring they fit in the overall Analytics strategy
Create semantic layers and metadata around any new data that is used in the analytical solutions
Fully understand the potential and capabilities of the BI tools used (PowerBI and WebFocus) and constantly try to innovate using the latest functionalities and analytics techniques
Establish a close relationship with the Cargo IT group to ensure that the needs that require IT support are covered and followed-up on
In collaboration with the CRM development team, develop and implement dashboards and reports within the Salesforce solution
Qualifications
University degree with a preference in an analytical discipline such as Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science or similar
3 years work experience as a BI developer
Experience using business intelligence solutions with tools such as Power BI, WebFocus, Tableau or related BI tools
Experience in the development of dashboards and data visualizations
Familiarity with agile methodology and sprints with a collaborative mindset
Strong knowledge of databases and data exploration with technologies like Snowflake, Teradata, Azure Cloud platform, Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with Python, R, or JavaScript an asset
Experience with Salesforce particularly for reporting and analytics an asset
Passion for solving complex business challenges by utilizing latest technology solutions
Be highly driven and able to self-manage in a fast paced and quickly changing environment
Possess strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Able to communicate with both technical and business audiences
Very strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Able to establish and maintain effective relationships throughout the organization
Team player enjoying working in a collaborative environment
