About this role

Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, the role holder will work with our Network Build Engineering Innovations team. The role holder will work closely with key stakeholders and project leads to develop and execute training plans and timelines that both manage agreed demand whilst working within the operational needs of the business.  

The role holder will have a clear focus on business benefit, safety and efficiencies and will work with L&D to strive to ensure the correct method of training and readiness is arranged.

You\'ll have the following responsibilities

  • Supporting with the lead interface for NBE with L&D  
  • Accountable for supporting performance in operations by developing plans for improving skills and effective implementations 
  • Working with the NBE Innovations team, H&S team and L&D capturing and collating the training requirements for each new project across NBE
  • Inputting into the quarterly learning plan as well as the Annual Learning Plan
  • Responsible for challenging assumptions on demand, where appropriate to ensure that they are fully thought through, accurate, and agreed by relevant owners.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of above plans ensuring that any training is targeted to identified areas of need
  • To report on progress of above and where exceptions are found to work with stakeholders to investigate root cause and take measures to avoid reoccurrence.
  • To support the collection, collation, analysis, and presentation of information to senior management, on behalf of NBE, on all key aspects impacting resourcing and skilling
  • To react to necessary changes in plan and build alternative contingency plans at short notice
  • To support external / internal benchmarking activities in support of improvement initiatives
  • To support and deliver all aspects of analysis that will lead to identification of major change initiatives across the unit

You\'ll have the following skills & experience

  • Ability to develop strong, collaborative working relationships across the business to drive delivery of the Chief Engineer and Openreach customer commitments
  • Relevant experience, with good understanding of training and buddying activities within Openreach.
  • Project managements /L&D experience desirable
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to deliver training plans to a high quality
  • Demonstrable communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills and influencing skills. 
  • Problem Solving Skills - Ability to analyse problems and issues and resolve them independently
  • Strong Communication Skills – Have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and by writing, with customers, colleagues, and management team 
  • Strong Organisational Skills– Ability to plan, prepare and prioritise your workload effectively
  • Self-motivated – ability to take initiative and self-manage work at times
  • NRSWA Units 1-8 for Excavation/ + Reinstatement 
  • IOSH  - Managing Safely 
  • CSCS Health & Safety
