This role directly supports the deployment of BDUK’s Lean Strategy focusing on organisational development which will underpin an enduring Continuous Improvement culture and approach that strives to achieve World Class Productivity and Quality Performance. The focus area for this role and deployment of the Lean Strategy is within the Vertical Lift Business area – Apache Programmes. Additionally this role has the potential to expand and evolve into the wider BDUK business following successful deployment into a more senior role. Continuous Improvement and cultural development is an instrumental and integral part of BDUK’s Operational Excellence Strategy providing a foundation to BDUK’s continued success and growth in the UK. This role will be a high profile position and is instrumental in strengthening BDUK’s long-term commitment to Operational Excellence.
Responsibilities include:
Shaping the development of the organisational culture to ensure BDUK’s Apache Lean Strategy is successfully deployed
Collation, design and development of the content material and plans to support specific and large scale Training development and Organisational cultural integration of the Apache Lean Strategy which includes developing the roll-out plan, defining key milestones, resource planning and reporting on progress
Continuous development of organisational development approaches through bench marking of best practices whilst maintaining alignment and utilising existing Company World Class Productivity and Quality System’s and methods
Working in partnership with the Lean Strategy Programme Manager ensuring that organisation development activities are fully aligned with the overall lean strategy deployment plan and liaising with other business partners and key stakeholders on an ongoing basis
Analysis of the business Value Streams, working systems and daily tasking activities together with the development and delivery of the Training and Organisational Development programmes to optimise the same, in line with the relevant parties within a matrix organization.
Planning, coordinating and delivering specific and adhoc training to support the optimum and sustained development of the value streams, events and projects, leading complex problem solving and delivery of high value / high impact projects / training initiatives
Facilitating large scale step change improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams to deliver processes and procedures that result in first time quality and high productivity
Capturing, measuring and reporting on the benefits of organisational development using key performance indicators in the categories of: People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation, and/or Boeing Production System (BPS), Quality Leadership Review (QLR) metrics as appropriate.
Collaboratively, working with the requisite parties to identify and address the efficient and continuous reduction of CoPQ issues/measures and the efficient integration of these to the relevant business systems.
Identify and manage risks, issues and conflicts to ensure effective resolution.
Competencies
Highly skilled in coordinating with cross functional teams and an expert practitioner of collaborative working techniques
Highly skilled in developing and delivering training materials in organisational development
Advanced stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build strong professional relationships at both senior management level and shop floor level
A good understanding of Quality Management Systems and supporting regulatory bodies
Experienced coach and trainer with proven ability to transfer knowledge in the development of others
Competent in using MS Project & the MS Office products in general.
Expert facilitator in leading and organising improvement activities from 1 Day Kaizen events to 5 Day detailed organisational step change / value stream mapping events.
Experienced in detailed end-to-end value stream mapping.
Proven expert in a variety of Lean/Process improvement systems and associated methods
Education & Experience:
10 Years + of proven experience in leading the development and deployment of Continuous Improvement, training delivery and systems of work in a range of organisations that include Aerospace and Security, Manufacturing and Service Businesses. Highly skilled with significant experience as a senior practitioner in facilitation, complex value streams, complex problem solving, developing best practices with significant experience in project / portfolio management. Proven track record of continued measurable success with advanced collaboration skills and techniques demonstrated within complex stakeholder structures that include customers, suppliers, internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Highly developed analytical, process mapping and systems integration skills with the ability to engage and develop others in this area.
An appropriate education within Manufacturing, Maintenance Operations, Engineering and Quality Systems. Certifications in Lean / Process Improvement Systems and Methodologies will be required. A Bachelor’s and or a Master’s degree in a related discipline would be viewed as advantageous to compliment significant practitioner experience at a Senior Level
