We are embarking on an ambitious Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) programme to modernise our processes, systems and ways of working, making them easier, simpler and better for our 28,000 people.
About the role

We are looking for a Business architect to design and own our ERP target operating model underpinned by SAP systems. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) at TfL is a set of processes, data & systems that help us to manage our £11bn finances, procurement of c.£4bn goods and services through the supply chain, our operations & assets to Keep London Moving & Growing.

The Business Architect is accountable for constructing and owning reference architectures within the TfL’s Corporate Areas (Contact Centres, Finance, Procurement, Commercial Development, Supply Chain and HR), informing the alignment of key product investment decisions, capabilities, and strategies to ensure business outcomes. 

The role holder directly supports the business units, providing a common framework from which integrated and fit for purpose technology solutions can be developed. 

This person will provide leadership on the architecture of the business capabilities, process, and information that technology will enable and work with product managers and technical architects on the best designs for specific business needs. 


Key Accountabilities

•    Provide architectural leadership on TfL’s business processes, performance measures, and organisational hierarchies. Serve as a bridge between corporate strategy and the technology organisation. 
•    Connect enterprise architecture to the business outcomes of the company by working closely with key stakeholders and business partners. 
•    Build and maintain the current-state and future-state business architecture views for the TfL’s Corporate Areas. 
•    Deliver various artefacts as part of the enterprise business architecture, including capability models, information lifecycle models, value chain maps, business motivation models, Target Operating Models and roadmaps.
•    Design and socialise the architectural requirements needed to provide the business capabilities the businesses and operations groups need. 
•    Work closely with the Portfolio Management, Product Management, and Business Analyst functions to align architecture with business needs.
•    Work directly with the ERP Transformation Portfolio designing the future-state architecture of our back-office business systems, many of which will be cloud-based SaaS platforms 
•    Provide business insight to the Product Management community, ensuring business reference architectures are consulted when developing product roadmaps resulting in the alignment of product roadmaps across the TfL’s Corporate Areas.   
•    Provide architectural assurance, support and guidance to Technology & Data (T&D) delivery teams to ensure T&D programmes/projects deliver integrated solutions in accordance with the agreed reference architectures. 

•    Provide subject matter expertise and business knowledge insight informing T&D strategies and ensuring the T&D direction, services, capabilities, and product developments integrate and optimally deliver business outcomes.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential: E Desirable: D
Knowledge
•    Educated to a degree level or equivalent certification, ideally in computer science or IT disciplines E– post graduate qualification in business MBA – D.  
•    A holder of TOGAF level 1 & 2 certificate (v9.0 or higher) or equivalent certification D
•    Broad knowledge of Transport industry operational model including key policies, processes, systems, strategic drivers, financial context, and customer experience. D
•    Thorough knowledge of architectural design principles and the relationship between business architecture and related data, application and technology domains. E
•    ERP product domain knowledge (e.g. S4HANA, SAP ARIBA, SAP Success Factors, MS Dynamics) and the importance of informing investment through the application of a cohesive business reference architecture. E
Skills
•    Ability to communicate the value of business architecture to senior stakeholders E
•    Proficient analytical abilities, able to draw on a wide range of information sources and synthesise coherent architectural frameworks. E
•    A highly adept modeller able to articulate complex concepts into effective mediums from which multiple stakeholders can derive clear direction and points of integration. E
•    A compelling communicator able to clearly convey concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. E
•    Good level of personnel resiliency able to solve problems and provide confident direction during times of unforeseen issues. D

Experience
•    Experience of delivering business reference architectures and other associated models to major business transformation programmes in a large, complex and operationally focused organization. E
•    Experience implementing major ERP packaged system in large companies. Experience in one or more of the following back-office domains, including CRM, Supply Chain, Procurement Finance, and HR. E
•    Demonstrable experience of developing enterprise business architecture including but not limited to: business modelling, business capability mapping, value stream and business motivational modelling E
•    Practical experience and understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and mapping approaches D
•    Successfully demonstrated the value of a structured and integrated business architecture approach to drive out efficiencies and realise financial benefits. E
•    Experience of using architecture frameworks, processes and standards (e.g. BIZBOK, Zachman, TOGAF, Lean Six Sigma) D
•    A background in one or more technical domains (data, technology &/or applications) desirable in addition to successfully delivering in a business architecture role. .D
