Job Description

The Business Application Manager will provide day to day management of a team of TalkTalk Specialists & SME’s covering core Business Applications. The Business Application manager will be accountable for driving application performance via both internal and external teams and suppliers and will also be responsible for Patch Management, Security and policy implementation. Although not a hands on technical role, a good technical background and understanding is required. The Business Application team will provide 3rd line support, project implementation, transformational activities and aid TalkTalk Architects in new project designs. The Business Application Manager will work closely with other areas of TalkTalk, OSP’s and 3rd party supplies to ensure strong governance, day to day running and management of TalkTalk business applications.

This role would also include:

  • Collaborate with solution design and enterprise architects common design, engineering and build capability for Application solutions across the enterprise
  • Provide senior input on design, standards and policy documentation working with infrastructure architects and Outsourced Partners
  • Accountable for the management, maintenance and support of all Business Applications within scope of Application & Database services
  • Accountable for the delivery of 1st and Second line support across applications via in house and partner delivery
  • Responsible for the governance and direction to partners who monitor applications and identify performance and capacity issues. Input into the Risk Framework
  • Accountable for the day to day operational team performance.
  • Point of escalation where required. Responsible for the approval of key application service process' for Incident, Problem, Change. Interface between Suppliers and internal stake holders where required.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of Applications and future trends including Cloud, virtualisation, orchestration and automation. Interface between design to maintain technical Applications.
  • Interface between service Transition to ensure the appropriate support models are delivered for the in life support of the technical applications.
  • Responsible for the Provision and decommission any Applications associated with this technology area
  • Demonstrate a logical approach, balancing business requirements with a ‘keep it simple’ configuration strategy
  • Work with our outsourcing partners to achieve an enterprise capable application layer with significant virtualisation and orchestration
  • Continuously look for areas of improvement and simplification within their own team and within the wider IT Teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Technical Application Services continually runs at optimum performance levels to deliver our customer's service expectations which will involve utilising TalkTalk specialists and partner resources.
  • Lead a team of specialised Subject Matter Experts & Business Application Specialists to provide Application support, Documentation and technology delivery for critical systems that are fit for purpose and support the business in achieving business objectives/improve customer experience
  • Provide direction and governance to TalkTalk and partners who manage and monitor Technical Applications to identify performance, compliance and capacity issues.
  • Providing management guidance, vision, leadership, coaching and mentoring, to the Subject Matter Experts, UK wide. Lead by example; providing enthusiasm, drive and energy to succeed, and by being a positive example to peers, direct report, managers and their teams.
  • Effectively engage and communicate - providing a sound, transparent and robust decision-making structure, and demonstrating sound judgment in making timely decisions for progression of the business. Working with Change and incident management teams.
  • Build positive working relationships with external stakeholders, suppliers and vendors to deliver the needs of our business through collaboration.
  • Represent and undertake Application tasks related to design and setup during various TalkTalk Projects and set out by Head of Applications.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge and documentation of Technical Application Services components, identifying future trends and services. Engage with the implementation of a Bi-modal operating model providing operational support and skills on Agile & DevOps methodology
